Overview:
We’re looking for a Lead Electrical Design Engineer to take ownership of electrical and energy system design within complex decarbonisation and retrofit projects. This role spans RIBA Stages 2-7, with a focus on low-carbon technologies, building services, and electrical ECMs — supporting sustainable retrofit programmes across the UK.
The Role:
- Lead electrical design delivery from feasibility through to implementation
- Design and integrate low-carbon electrical systems, including EV charging, solar PV, energy storage, and smart distribution networks
- Ensure compliance with relevant UK regulations, CIBSE, IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671), and PAS 2035
- Support BIM execution and electrical CAD coordination across multi-disciplinary teams
- Develop performance models to assess system efficiency, resilience, and optimisation
- Oversee technical reviews and support procurement, tendering, and stakeholder engagement
- Guide internal teams and clients through funding schemes and planning compliance
- Mentor junior engineers, foster knowledge sharing, and support technical development across the team
About You:
- 10+ years in electrical design for building services and energy infrastructure
- In-depth knowledge of low-carbon tech: solar PV, EV infrastructure, battery storage, smart grid systems
- Familiar with PSDS, GHNF, and other public sector funding schemes
- Strong understanding of UK building regulations, IET Wiring Regs, and compliance frameworks
- Skilled in energy modelling and digital tools such as Amtech, Dialux, AutoCAD, Revit, and IES
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) preferred or working towards it
- Confident communicator and proven leader in multi-disciplinary project environments
